I wonder if they've learned about cause and effect

perhaps they need to stop making demands and start focusing on their relevance to the job market.

It's just like everything else these days. People think they are entitled to something they didn't earn. In their eyes, every successful person had their success handed to them. They have no appreciation for what an accomplishment really is, and probably never will.
