Pigs are flying! We finally have something in agreement. Now that is progress.
I hate to say it, but Hillary wants to keep buying friendships at a high cost, while Trump has said they need to earn it, as we do need to earn theirs.
It is way easier to make an enemy, than the hard work it really takes to make a friend. A pay-off is faster.
I, for one, do not consider Turkey an "Ally" of the United States. They gave us fits over using their air space, they basically used the refugee crisis as a bargaining chip to hold Europe hostage to their demands (visa-free travel to EU), and their president has moved to nullify the Parliament's powers in a move towards checking democratic power.
We need to be more prudent in who we consider "allies". Yes, I realize the world runs on Realpolitik, not principal, but we should always know the difference between "Friends" and "Interests".
I agree. turkey is NOT a country I think we should be an ally with.
Honestly, just bring them all home already. They are not going to fight to win. These special force guys are somebody else's sons too. Why are they there?
Agreed. Turkey and others can go fight the monster that in their backyard.

We shouldn't be an ally with ANY country with the possible exception of Canada. And that's only for obvious reasons.

There was never a time that I advocated buying friends. My position has always been that the United States should remain a nation without permanent friends or allies. We don't need 'em.

And we let them into NATO.....

If you were Trump and said that - the media would be take a &#^@ all month on you for that one.
It does seem like our "allies" take advantage of our military spending coupled with alliances so that they can spend more on their own people.
