It does seem like our "allies" take advantage of our military spending coupled with alliances so that they can spend more on their own people.
Of course they do. I've known that for 30+ years.

So you, on this issue, seem to be more aligned with Trump than Hillary.
Perhaps.

Because most Americans are fools. With the exception of Canada, we buy our friends. Our so called "allies" have been nothing but trouble...expensive trouble, since WW2. United States has ran around the world stupidly trying to fix a world that these "allies" spent centuries screwing up.

The Europeans are the worst culprits. Nevermind the Middle East. Europe has cost us hundreds of thousands of dead Americans over the last century. Ally my ass. More like the heaviest albatross in history.

If the Canadians wanna fight ISIS, more power to 'em. But it's a waste of time.

There was never a time that I advocated buying friends. My position has always been that the United States should remain a nation without permanent friends or allies. We don't need 'em.

So if you believe that, then we agreed all along.

I used finally, because I didn't get a chance to see the revealing of thoughts.
We did agree all along and didn't know it.

This is why NATO & the UN, does more meddling than good. It has no teeth, if a nation will not consent.

We finally agree.

I think a certain someone warned us about foreign entanglements about 240 years ago...

What's with the "finally"stuff? Geez.

If you agree, just say that.

Anyway...yeah. Our founders were quite prescient. And they hated Europe for good reasons....the Europeans were nothing but trouble.

They didn't hate Europe. We don't win the war without France.

Yeah...they did.

And we were well aware of French motives for helping us and the Founders weren't about to let the French entangle us in their European internecine squabbles.

LOL......I have no idea where you got that idea but.........No, they didn't want to get involved over there but they most certainly didn't hate Europe. Those like Jefferson believed that the large city centers of Europe were corrupt and that we should avoid that but we didn't listen to that advice either.

Today we want to cram everyone into these large corrupt cities.

Obama's coalition of nations might disagree with that no friends, no allie, statement.

Maybe Obama is slowly inching over that imaginary red line so he can say he responded as he theatened he would....legacy...."obama follows up on threat of red line in Syria."
