"72 Percent Of Black Kids Raised By Single Parent"

Beyond your bait thread title, it is really sad how poorly this country functions to look out for families. It is becoming a point where people are being punished to live in poverty just because they wish to start a family.
This is an unexpected consequence of how the welfare system is set up to help unwed/divorced mothers. If a woman marries she is kicked off the rolls, however if she has 4-5-6+ children out of wedlock she is rewarded with bigger checks.
I'm not trying to get into a racial argument, it's just a fact.

Exactly right, the entire system is backassward, having been setup so many decades ago when families were very important to every segment. It's become an antiquated, outdated, and poorly managed system. Instead of helping people through hard times it has become a way of life, with a generational addiction to being on it.

These checks are nowhere near enough to help any parent to raise a family. Just having one child could financially cripple a parent in this country.

If this was all they have, of course it isn't enough. THAT was never the intention.
Listen up: When I was younger I had three friends (brothers) who were all from different fathers. Their mother was collecting welfare, and lived in a fairly decent home which was subsidized through section 8. All of them worked (the Brothers) and had fairly decent income, but of course none of it was ever claimed.
The mom drove a new Lexus, which was registered in her daughters name.
Believe me, they are probably not the average/typical welfare family... however I witnessed first hand how they juked the system.

BS. 90% of the world "raises a family" on less than that. And how can you expect to raise a family when there is no father around who doesn't pay child support? Or maybe don't have 6 kids if you can't support 1.

The black single parent rate was in SINGLE DIGITS before the War On Poverty started in the 1960's.
When growing up it was frowned upon to be having children without being married and having a Father, but you do understand that generations ago our families were split up and Black fathers were removed from the families, including their children, and their wives. Fast forward generations later and black men have adopted the same mindset that was enforced through their slave masters.
