Except perhaps not.

In real life, the Northernmost counties (Del Norte, Siskiyou, Modoc, Humboldt, Trinity) are poor, as are the inland desert counties (no big surprise there). On the other hand, the decidedly southern counties of Ventura, Orange and San Diego are doing fair-to-middlin'.

Los Angeles County looks poor, but it's such an outlier, population-wise, that it's hardly a fair comparison. If it was broken up in SF-sized chunks, it would show up with some very rich and very poor areas.

Amid rising disgust, S.F. scrambles to flush stench from streets - San Francisco Chronicle

Quote:
City officials are responding to the rising tide of public disgust by stepping up their “poop patrols” — with the goal of cleaning up human waste on downtown streets within an hour of when it’s reported.
Yes, glad he stepped up the "poop patrols" great job, and before anyone complains, this is a SF newspaper....

#8 in per capita debt.

#1 in gross state debt.

Would love to see liberals cry when a smarmy republican controlled state puts the same laws and restrictions on gays or abortions.

I'll be consistent. I'm not a Californian. Not my concern (the debt part sucks for all Americans but almost every state is guilty of that to an extent).

Eh, then why have so many of their residents left for Texas and now trying to turn that state into the mess they left?

We are getting them in Missouri too, but fruitcakes don't do well here.

What they do is what they do. If the government won't enforce federal law consistently, then let states create their own mess. If federal funding is going towards it, I blame the Feds vs a stupid (santuAry cities are flat dumb) state/local decision.

In some ways, it's almost a good 'back to states rights' topic. Again, the funding of it can cause ire, but that's the state gaming the system, meaning federal 'under'sight/malfeasance.

The "dirt poor south" of California? Like La Jolla, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, etc.?

Ok.
