Michelle Obama went to City College of New York and told the graduating students that she is living in a house built by slaves. This speech happened on June 4, 2016. Here is video of that speach.
At least she is one of the privileged few who got to live in the Peoples House. (Even though she and her husband continually disgraced that house by their actions and words)
Technically it was "built" by whomever designed it, had the creativity to envision it and put the plans to paper and then to reality.
Because you carry bricks from here to there, unload wagons and dig holes and trenches..you rally didn't build anything. To use Barack's words "you didn't build that"
Next it will be slaves picked the cotton to make the US Flag.........leaving people to believe Betsy Ross really didn't sew that flag!
If one can't see an agenda, it is because they don't want to.
Why? Because white people are saying they're getting tired of it?
Tell me this..... had MO never mentioned slavery, race, or anything that pointed to race in this speech do you think we'd be discussing it?
Why? Because her statement about the White House being built by slaves was taken totally out of context by many posters in this thread in order to accuse her of racism and attacking white people in the speech. In context she was praising what America has become and how America has extended the Founding Fathers ideals to groups people at least some of the Founding Fathers would not have.
As to what would have occurred if she had used different phrasing: I'm pretty sure based on past results that there would have been a thread attacking Michelle Obama in which she would have been attacked as being a racist.
So for you it doesn't matter that Michelle Obama praised America in this speech, because you know she has another agenda. Got it.
No, we can read many of her her commencement speeches, and see the ugly, hateful way she depicts her own country, as full of a bunch of racist, misogynistic, bigoted haters.
Just read her speech from last year at Tuskegee University. Again and again, the only obstacles Michelle thinks students need to overcome are white racists and white bigots. To this race obsessed woman, apparently the only obstacles or adversities in life students will ever encounter is white racism.
Her speech was essentially: You've graduated, and now you must endure the fight against evil, racist white folk.
Her Tuskegee University speech could have ended the references to white racists after about the 17th paragraph, and been uplifting. Instead she went on for twenty more minutes with example after example of evil, vile, unjust, white racism against the black man.
Michelle, you think our country is full of evil whites, we get it.

There was no call to once again go down that road. There was also no call to characterize Americans of today as evil racists who "view our diversity as a threat to be contained." Who the hell are these many "they" who are supporting that freaking view? Just another straw man to flail away at with her lance
Like I said, the theme to her speeches usually amount to, now that you graduated, the evil white racists will do all the can to keep you down, so she can pretend to justify giving an uplifting speech of overcoming evil whitey.

Like I already posted. For many, it doesn't really matter what she said in this speech. It just somehow must be a speech attacking white people.
Michelle Obama is a Divider, just like her husband. Every chance they get, they throw out statements reminding us, again and again. I'll be so glad when they're outta there!!!
And while I'm thinking of it, that little video of Michelle dancing in front of the 100+ year old Black lady as if to say "dance, dance on your birthday"....like the elderly lady is some kind of oddity. I was sickened by that. How dare she!!!

There are also non Euro-Americans who are against diversity and diversity doesn't imply race. Michelle did not limit diversity to race in her speech.
