I don't know if they were ever illegal, some evenings it's one after another and lately it's not as bad as it's been. I was going to keep track of all the drug ads when I start my TV at 6PM, but thought of why?
The one that is commical is the two bathtubs with a man and woman in them for the cialis ad...that is a dangerous drug, a friend died of a heart attack while on clinical trials with viagra.
They really are pervasive. Were they illegal at one time, or the companies just didn't advertise on TV?
Yes, the drug companies were not allowed to advertise decades ago.
Also, lawyers weren't allowed to advertise, either!
I hate the drug commercials. If I can't buy something why advertise it?
I heard that many people pester their doctors for a specific drug because they saw an advertisement! These people will go from doctor to doctor until one of them prescribes what they want. Crazy!
Not everyone will hold the same opinion as me but the way I see it .... Big Pharma makes money off consumers which means more profit. Investors make money off Big Pharma through their stock. Lawmakers in Washington DC all have investment portfolios and most likely have pharmaceutical companies in it. So why would the DC cronies put the kibosh on advertising? They see it as, Got a health problem, we've got a pill that can fix that. And never mind that it might kill you. More money for us. It's all about the money.
Seriously though, it makes me sad when the side effects of a drug (intended to heal) kills someone way too soon in life. I'm referring to Glenn Frey, who died from complications brought on by his arthritis medication.
For every pharma ad, there is a sue them ad.

I am not a conspiracy believer, but yet I've wondered if the Food Industry" is in collusion with the Pharma Industry. First they add high fructose corn syrup to everything, then genetically modified foods, then a whole host of chemical additives to our foods, then we get sick.
We get really sick. We get obese, we get cancer, we get diabetes, we get coronary heart disease...and then we get lots of pharma drugs, operations, tests, procedures....then we die.
Lot of industries are making lots of money off our pain and suffering from our diseases, our side effects, and our seeking a cure to our diseases.
Have you thought about this, too?
Of course, what we put into our mouths and how much we exercise is a personal decision, but still, food did not seem to be so very adulterated in my parents' day...and it's running a mine field at the grocery store to buy healthy choices...reading every label is very time consuming.
Not easy to stay healthy in the face of so much junk food and junk medicines.
The medical world NEEDS the people to be unwell/sick so they can push their drugs to those who go to them. I know many foods need shelf life preservatives but there are many that can be used. I buy reduced sodium progresso soups that I mix with a lot of my fresh veggies and WHY can't the progresso people produce ALL reduced sodium soups? I called them and complained about how much sodium they add to a regular can and of course never heard back...They don't care.
They may all be in bed.

No it's not. Just buy food from the edges of the super market and you avoid 95% of the garbage that is in there in the center. Everything that is refrigerated or fresh tends to be better. Boxed/canned processed stuff, not so much. You avoid all the snack foods, soda, and processed carbs by default.
