I have been told that Canada won't take you unless you have a skill they need. And I know from personal experience that a foreigner can not get hired in Australia, unless no Australian will take the job. The US should take a lesson from them.
Our LEGAL immigration laws are not working for the American people. Immigration is for the benefit of the host nation, not some jobs bill for the entire world.
Neither a concealed carry permit, nor a state "security guard" license are a Federal Firearms License, which is a license to buy and sell firearms commercially. It does simply prove that federal background checks (which he had to go through to get a CCL) are rather pointless...
Maybe not. Depends on the timeline, doesn't it? I think we can all agree that Mateen was a bit unhinged. Doesn't mean he was unhinged when he got his license, which may have been a decade ago.
Would you really support pulling someone's firearms license because he was brought to the attention of the FBI?
Except you are able to name a country, and everyone knows what you are talking about.
If I were to say "the mass shooting in the United States..." what specific event am I refering to?
Nice try at throwing a random strawman into the situation. Fully automatic weapons are illegal in France, did that do anything to stop a bunch of terrorists, many of whom the state was aware were potential threats, from acquiring fully automatic weapons which even in the U.S. are extremely tightly regulated and will run you tens of thousands of dollars, if you can even get a license for them in the first place. They managed to acquire these weapons for attacks in both France and Belgium.
Your notion that without legal guns that individuals like this would resort to knives is just hopelessly naive.
If anything, with prohibition and the war on drugs, we've seen that simply banning stuff just doesn't work. The black market will always act to fill the demand. In Europe they have a vibrant black market that leaves a myriad of military weaponry accessible to criminals and the most unscrupulous individuals.
If someone is that determined to murder people, they will find the tools for the job, the only ones that you are really disarming are the people who actually thinking following the law is a good thing.
From what has been reported, the FBI was alerted about this guy three years ago.
We also know the FBI was alerted about the Boston bombers.
My GUESS is that government officials are more concerned about profiling Muslims than keeping these attacks from happening. My GUESS is they aren't allocating enough resources because they don't want to have to report X percent of resources are used to watch Muslims. X percentage would be too much and considered "racist."
The government should me more concerned about stopping attacks and less concerned about being PC.
What's your point...that we should have no border control ? No limits on immigration ? The United States had near zero immigration from 1924 until 1965 under mostly democratic presidents.....every nation has a right to decide who comes into their nation, how many of them come in, and where they come from.
From 1941 to 1950 alone we had over 1 million immigrate here. The Displaced Persons Act of 1948 allowed hundreds of thousands to immigrate here.
And since this was specifically targeted at gays, does that mean conservatives will continue to ignore that the US has a problem with gun violence?
Conservatives want to lock up criminals who use guns for a very long time.
