Here is a perfect example from St Paul, MN. The Democratic majority at the time back in the late 40's/early 50's pushed the freeway construction right through the vibrant black neighborhood called Rondo. Back then black folks were prosperous in St Paul. They had a nice, clean and safe neighborhood. Their families were rock solid, some of the best families in St Paul. But 2 entire city blocks the length of the city had to go to make way for the freeway.

The Republicans fought AGAINST the Dems, in fact decrying the injustice of running the freeway right through this community. There was an alternate route that the minority Republican leadership wanted to reroute the freeway to. It would have run along the main RR track route east-west through St Paul but it would have added a couple of minutes drive time between St Paul and Minneapolis. But it would have been all industrial/warehouse areas torn down instead of the wonderful Rondo.

So they destroyed their neighborhoods with a freeway and then destroyed their families with welfare.

As long as the liberals are so interested in rewriting history, maybe they should learn some real history.

A son of St. Paul's Rondo wants bridges to bear tribute

I'll remember that the next time a liberal complains about who is on the $20 dollar bill and the fact that maybe they had lunch with someone who owned slaves once.

This is real history and caused real hardship on black folks who are still sad about it to this day.

So you are upset about two unrelated things, got it. Oh and the $20 bill is already in the process of being changed, so I doubt anyone is going to be complaining about having Jackson on it.

We could go back farther and talk about the Jim Crow laws and how that was a Democratic invention, and how the Democrats fought Abe Lincoln and the Republicans tooth and nail to preserve slavery in the US.

They are still the same party, they are just far more sneaky about the way they implement their agenda.

Keep the minorities down with welfare, don't really let them into society. Keep them at arms length.

Sure, that makes sense, it makes sense that you would rather talk about the past rather than anything present day because we all know the Republicans of the Lincoln Era is dead and gone in the Republican Party.

From 1939 to 1955, Minnesota had a Republican governor

From 1939 to 1955, Minnesota senate had between 43 to 51(out of 67 total) Republican Senators( in short Dems never had the majority in the senate during the time frame you argued)

From 1939 to 1955, Minnesota House had between 65 and 87(out of a total o 131) Republican Represenatives (in short, Dems never had the majority in the House during the time frame you argued)

Why are you blaming Democrats ?????

Oh, and here is my link to back that up

https://www.leg.state.mn.us/lrl/histleg/caucus_table

A better question is, why did you lie without even attempting to make sure what you were saying was true ?

In the '50s and '60s interstates were plowing though neighborhoods across America, in rich and poor, and Democratic and Republican districts. It wasn't a Democratic vs Republican government issue.
