In my 70 years on this earth, I have never seen such a negative time in this country. (yes, the Viet Nam era was bad, but not to this degree) It seems as if there are two Americas right now........ some of us see the country one way and the others see it totally different.

The negative half see the country as in terrible condition. They rant about leadership, no jobs, terrible economy, corrupt politicians, crime, and every other ill known to man. There is no convincing them that they need to really take a look at where we are, because they JUST DON'T CARE !

The other half, like me, feel things are certainly a Hell of a lot better in 2016 than they were 8 years ago. Bush had run this countries economy into the toilet. Record numbers were applying for UEI. People were losing homes left and right. Businesses were closing their doors by the hundreds, and we were on the verge of a REALLY serious depression. I worked for a company back then that repossessed boats, and we had so many boats we had no where to store them. People were calling us and telling us to come get their boat because they could not afford food, let alone a luxury item.

Today, things are a Hell of a lot better. Companies are hiring and expanding, and people (who want to work) can find a good job. 8 years ago, I was dipping into my savings, but today I have money in the bank and can spend money on anything I want. I am in still in the boating business, but on the other end, and I see people now BUYING boats..........BIG BOATS, and consumer confidence is climbing.

My shop is in a row of other shops and we were about the last one surviving 8 years ago. The place was empty and we were the last shop still there. Now, every shop is filled and up and running, and the businesses all have "Help wanted " signs out front. 8 years ago, you rarely saw a dump truck or construction vehicle on the roads, today, that is all I see, people are building homes and other buildings today.

Where these people get this idea that things are worse is absolutely inaccurate and stupid. But it seems that half of America chooses not to see the truth because the have some pent up anger that drives them. As for me, I am getting ready to go to work and might go out tonight and spend some money. I'm happy as a clam.

Ponder this...

Obama is THE ONLY president in American history to serve two complete terms with the nation at war. And the wealth and income gaps have widened during Obama's 2 terms.

Is your position that we're really better off, given the above two facts?

Yes, there are many people who support turning the US into a sissy nanny socialist handout nation.
Uuuuhe, wouldn't that have actually been Johnson:

I seem to recall y'all were wholeheartedly in favour of his reforms at the time even though you'd just recovered from a nasty bought of McCarthyism and his use of those exact words you just used to whip up frenzy and fear among you.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

I think the poster failed to see those loss homes and loss boats were stupid people taking on more than they could handle. Plus, many of those home owners were flippers and people buying second homes they could not afford in the first place. As for construction what a load of sh*t.........very good for illegals in construction, horrible for those that want a job above $8.00 an hr!

ITA with you.

I wonder what sorts of lives these people lead lol.

They just complain and complain about stupid things.

The country is WAY better than it was 8 years ago on an economic front. I make about $30k more today than I made 8 years ago.

I got promoted in my current career due to the "stimulus" back in 2009 that made such an overload of work that the company I worked for promoted me into a very in demand field and paid me more money. I worked doing project management for construction at the time and it is really hilarious to me in regards to the "no one is making money off of construction" comments.

You people must not work in the construction industry. The people who worked on our multi-million dollar projects back then and today with that firm that I worked for (I no longer work there but they are now making RECORD profits from construction projects) have laborers that are making nearly $20 an hour.

I actually had to interview workers on some of these projects due to it being federally funded regarding their wages and benefits, etc. I ran across some workers who only spoke Spanish but the vast majority where white and black Americans. ALL the supervisors/managers of the GCs (general contractors) were white or black Americans. They made $60-$100k per year. Laborers made a minimum of $18 per hour.

So all of you thinking they are paying illegal aliens pennies and shafting Americans are kidding yourselves and IMO you do not know much about construction projects going on today.

New construction housing is also growing again, in some places at a pace near to what it was before the economic collaspe.

I agree with the above that anyone who cannot find a job today just doesn't want to work or do what is necessary to improve economically. I live in an area where there is a lot of manufacturing and production hiring for people who don't even have college degrees. You start at $10-$12 an hour but in 6 months you can make $15-$20 an hour just using your body.

I guess this quote from Obama, telling us that it's "we" who need to change, got under your skin. I'm not sure where "we" messed up, and where he thinks "we" need to change. But it's clear our government thinks it's our fault, so we'll just have to wait and see where Obama thinks "we" need to change, so terrorists will stop killing people.

"Say a prayer for them and say a prayer for their families — that God give them the strength to bear the unbearable," he said. "And that He give us all the strength to be there for them, and the strength and courage to change."

{snip}
Imagine that, people being upset about corrupt politicians, when the presidential nominee for one party is under multiple federal criminal investigations by the FBI, and our fiscal operating debt is at $19.2 trillion, while we have a fifty year high in the US poverty level.

There is nothing about Obama in the sentence about the school. You know it. The world knows it.

You aren't funny. You aren't cute. Just stop it!
The op concluded that Obama is soft on terror, and that we can tolerate Muslim terror but not hello kitty because Obama is an asshat. That's what I read. I just wanted a link, still not provided, and wondered why the two were related. I used to make my living as a writer so my understanding of the English language is pretty solid. Do you have a link?

Obama is on a Jihadist mission to destroy America...he's happy with Orlando.
