Some revolvers, such as the Colt Single Action Army, have to be manually (thumb) cocked to be fired. There's no way these revolvers could be considered "semi-automatics". That's the point I was making. You should have picked up on that. Most modern revolvers are "double action" and can be fired either by thumb cocking the hammer and then pulling the trigger ("single action" mode) or by pulling the trigger in "double action" mode which both coks and releases the trigger (hence the term "double action"). Also considering double action revolvers to be "semi-automatic" is a stretch.
Mistake here (in boldface). Should read hammer. Accuracy matters.
You're stretching. Ignorant? Really?
Should we allow everyone to buy a stinger anti-aircraft missile launcher so that they can "keep up"?
Again, I am not advocating taking away your M1911.
But I would like no more to be sold to civilians.
99.999% of people could could own a stinger and it would be as deadly as their AR. Make that "safe". In inanimate object does not drive intent.
Right now anyone can drive and buy the components to make a bomb capable of mass killing. What it requires is a little time and effort. One thing guns do is make it easy for those with bad intentions because they are portable and lethal. They require little training other than to pull the trigger.
The problem we have isn't guns but human psychology. Human history has proven that a small percentage of humans are defective mentally. They have some combination of environmental or genetic wackiness that makes them prone to violence and hate. You can call it evil, or any other term, but it is there.
Simple question to ask yourself is this: if you had a tank in the garage and a stinger in the basement would you use it for harm? If you are like most people the answer is no. My dad had two hand grenades on his desk for years and years. It never once occurred to us kids to pull the pin.
We can and should educate. We can and should spend more as a nation on mental illness. We can and should require that all gun owners take responsibility to keep guns away from children. We can and should make sure violent felons don't possess weapons. We can and should bring back gun safety courses to public schools.
What we shouldn't do is trample on the rights of 99.999% of Americans because of the actions of a few lunatics. That type of thinking is, well crazy.
Your argument makes no sense, either it is so dangerious it needs to be banned and confiscated or it is not.
Nonsense.
I don't believe in a Nanny Government, whose mission it is to come in your house and inspect for things that are dangerous.
If you have something that you believe is dangerous, you deal with it.
I believe semi-automatic weapons - especially clip fed ones - should not be sold to the general public. You carry on like you can change my mind. You can't.
FWIW: Yes, I am fully qualified with the M1911. I have fired a great variety of semi-automatic and even a few automatic weapons like the old M1919.

And all of this goes out the window when someone breaks into your home a steals your tank. Or your grenade.
That's why the military keeps all weapons secured behind locked doors and 24 hour guard.
Nonsense.

I guess even experts like yourself need a reminder
If semi automatic rifles were so dangerious why are they used in less than 5% of all murders? Blunt objects kill more people than rifles do. Hell, pools are much more dangerious thN rifles, why not ban them?
So Iv'e been thinking, Here's a new gun law that I think both sides can come to an agreement on.
How about a Federal Mandate making the prosecution of gun laws mandatory, with mandatory sentences, No more plea bargaining away possession by a felon, Rob a store with a gun, full prosecution of ALL charges, etc.
We may need to sweeten the deal on both sides, maybe CCW reciprocity to help alleviate people accidentally crossing a state line with a CW.
We could role out the new law with a big public info campaign, so no one could claim they didn't know
So what do you say.

I do notice that lots of people, including democrats, liberals and gun haters all talk about sensible gun laws.
if all you want is sensible gun laws, then you are admitting that all previous gun laws and firearm act are not cutting the mustard and must be repealed. after all, if current firearms laws are not sensible to people, and not the enforcing of said gun laws are the problem, then repeal all firearms laws and firearms act and previous legislation, so we can pass some sensible firearms laws.
until that happens, all you are saying is that you just want more gun laws, even if current laws do not work or just do not work because of the lack of enforcement.
Do people really think that gun laws will stop people getting guns who want them? If I thought for one second that gun laws would help I'd be for them. I know that criminals would just buy their guns illegally so why bother? Gun laws won't help so why waste the effort trying to come up with them?

Banning guns will only result in law abiding citizens not having guns. Only the ones who obey the law will turn theirs in. Those are NOT the ones we need to worry about.
I think gun laws will work about as well as drug laws have. Yes you'll stop some people from buying guns but they are not the ones you really need to be worried about. The ones you need to worry about will find a way to get a gun if they want it.

banning firearms without repealing the 2nd Amendment will just make more people in the USA become felons or criminals. there shall also be millions of firearms put into caches with ammo and other accoutrement's.

Has there been anyone around here talking about banning guns? Banning gun ownership? I haven't noticed it if there is.
We have people playing with definitions and people exaggerating the position of anyone who disagrees with them, and both of those positions are pretty weak. Silly, even. You sound like a bunch of Hillary Clintons, pretending that there is something confusing that must be fully clarified for you.
Congress won't do anything - or much of anything. So those who are so afraid that the US Army will suddenly turn on civilians have little to worry about. But then they never did have anything to worry about.
