We should note.......Detroit Free Press.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles began producing the Jeep Renegade in China on Monday, giving the brand a second vehicle that it can sell in the world's largest automotive market without import duties.

"This is what a lot of manufacturers have been doing for a long time," Brinley said. "This is a good thing for Jeep and the company because they have products that are in demand ... and that should perform well in international markets, but they have not had access."
This is the mantra of all globalists. That it's "good for America". Nobody buys that nonsense anymore.

Import Duties? So where's the "Free Trade"?

And you guys fault Trump for wanting to do the same on Chinese & Mexican products so the jobs come back to the USA. Your example just proved how wrong you guys are.

Trump proved right again. Thank you.

We have import duties on cars too. Why? Unions. Get rid of unions say the Republicans (and Trump).

Completely disgusting. The communists in China are laughing their asses off at the stupidity of Obama and their good fortune from it.

You don't know the business world if you think the government could force a company like Chrysler to agree to not manufacture a car outside of the US some 8 years down the road after the bailout. Their Board of Directors would have just gone through bankruptcy and laid off a whole bunch of people (not just Chrysler but also its financial arm, Chrysler Financial). No Board would tie the company's hands for 8 years in the future when there is another solution available (bankruptcy).

People disagree on the calculation method, but Chrysler has clearly paid back most of the taxpayer money, if not more.

Mick

I just posted the link where they did not pay back "more". We lost almost 10 billions dollars and if you figure in the other programs far more than that.

It's interesting to note your preferences for corporate welfare though.

So Trump said Chrysler would send all Jeep manufacturing to China. But after 4 years, it still did not happen and there is no sign it will happen. I do not understand why OP brought up this. To make Trump look bad?

Like the Chinese example given above, slap heavy import duties on any vehicle they produce outside the USA. That will take care of it.

BTW, Trump called that one exactly right. You guys just proved it.

There is zero Renegade production in the U.S.

Nope. Read above. Trump was proved absolutely right.

No wonder Obama wants to keep TPP secret including Hillary's emails on the subject.
