That would be the intent of my second sentence "The latest craze now, it seems, is that they also want to skirt around the Due Process clause contained in the 4th and 5th Amendments".

No I wasn't aware that it was "pro-gun" people who were advocating for stripping of rights without due process.

We could just follow the laws in place and see what happens...

There is no perfect answer, but doing nothing is certainly not the way to go.

You probably ought to read the wiki article on the 9th amendment.

It may enlighten you as to the fact that the whole inclusion of the "Bill of Rights" was contested because essentially many believed that the Fed had no power at all, so why was there a need to define any rights?

Alexander Hamilton wrote: "Why declare that things shall not be done which there is no power to do?"

That was the whole reason behind the 9th Amendment. To clarify that just because a particular right isn't mentioned in the Constitution or its amendments is no reason to believe that the right doesn't exist.

ALL rights belong to the individual and the FED has NO POWER at all except the very limited power given them BY THE PEOPLE.

can we please make it illegal for people to throw cigarette butts out of their car window?? I hate that people use the roads as their own personal ashtrays! not only is it littering, but it could start a fire.

on 2nd thought, it already is illegal. Yet I see it done everywhere. Never a cop around when it happens.

What "right" do you suppose you are addressing?

Here's the issue with that...... once power is given to the FED, it can never be taken back. Any time a right is given up, or modified in such a way that the people as a whole do not benefit from people's rights erode. It's important to understand what happens when Congress attempts to pass a bill and what future ramifications it may have. Once that bridge is crossed, it is burned and there is no hope of going back.

If the FED were operating as they should be, the people should be able to collectively overturn a decision that offers no benefit to the masses via a vote. If the majority agrees that we do not want a specific law in place, it should be struck from the books. How often has that ever happened?

Probably the right to bare arms out the car window without fear of being burned.
