So you're telling him what he meant instead of asking what he meant?

This reminds me of those "what did you say about my momma?" types that hear conflict where there isn't any.

I feel bad for those types, going through life with elevated blood pressure and thinking everyone is out to harm them.

SCOTUS said that the police are under no obligation to protect you or anyone. I live about 6 blocks from a police station, but 15 minute arrival times is not uncommon. That's why, and many LEOs echo this, you need to be able to protect yourself.
I was listening to the scanner recently when the first murder in my town in the last seven years occurred. 911 was called after the first shot, from an adjoining motel room. The shooter then chased the victim and fired 5 more times before the police arrived and the shooter had time to ditch the gun and escape on foot. Police response time was about 10 minutes.

An overview of case law:

Police Chief Magazine - View Article

A couple fairly recent ones from near DCforever:

FRIED v. ARCHER | FindLaw

FindACase™ | Ashburn v. Anne Arundel County

The first ended in the death of a teen aged girl, the second in a drunk driving accident.

I couldn't find the one I wanted to quote that happened in Anne Arundel County where the kidnapped victim, who was later killed, called 911 for help and the dispatcher thought it was a joke and didn't dispatch anyone for a welfare check.

If you're safely locking and storing your gun properly, how do you have it ready to use in time when seconds count? Say, during a break-in or a robbery?
Unless a person is sleeping with a gun under their bed, like cops do (trust me, I know) the few seconds it takes to open a safe will suffice in most cases. I'd rather have access to a locked firearm than be forced to face a threat with say... a golf club.

Through all these mass shootings, I wonder why the shooters used AR15 type weapons? There would be far better weapons to use.

Pretty simple.

It's the most popular.

It's kind of like asking why are white Ford F150's the truck most commonly involved in accidents?....because that's the most common truck on the road.

Media hype, both positive and negative has only contributed to the popularity of the AR-15.
As we speak, all the attention that anti gun activists are giving the AR-15 is only causing more to fly off the shelves.

There really us no such thing as bad publicity.
