FBI director: Mateen claimed loyalty to Islamist groups that are opposed to each other - LA Times
American Muslims aren't concerned with the internal power struggles and rilvaries of the different radical groups. This guy had Pashtun parents and a Palestinian wife. He would be attracted to elements of all those groups like the Taliban, al Qaeda, Hezbollah, and ISIS, and even the Boston Bombers. There is a common thread, and it's radical Islam.

If I was the FBI I'd try to sell this narrative too since they missed so many opportunities to stop him. Pretty convenient story they are cooking up to try and distance themselves from their screw up.

So if the gun laws were stricter, he wouldn't have done it? Ever heard of suicide vests. That was something that law enforcement thought he had when they first arrived on scene.

Everyone posting should just stop pretending that they knew what this killer was thinking.

I bet you're one of those conspiracy kooks who believe no one died at Sandy Hook either.

Oh yeah, he definitely would have stayed at home and kept to himself if he couldn't get his hands on a gun. No chance he would have rolled into the place with a bomb or anything. Its crazy what lies you will tell yourself to pretend like your anti-gun stance actually makes sense.

This guy had a clean record.

How would stricter gun laws have prevented him getting one?

It may have had something to do with Islamic beliefs, that is entirely possible but remember just because someone stated they pledged to something, don't mean they really did. Plus the ISISes and the Al Qaedas of the world always claim credit for attacks they have no orders given or anything.

Obviously he had a clean record. Meaning he wouldn't break the law to buy a gun illegally... so it could have been prevented. He would have thought twice about breaking gun laws if guns were illegal.

This was the furthest thing from being about religion. It was completely about guns. The only one talking about religion is Trump and his mexican hating supporters. I'm sorry..but dreamers are less likely to commit crimes than whites.

I said it is possible. We wont find out the real reasons because of this reason, he is DEAD. We will only get second-hand reasons and speculation, not the full story. FYI, I know people who are NOT Trump supporters who are claiming it is religious. Nice stereotyping there.
