What laws has the GOP devised that would help, sitting on their thumbs?
You bought your bridge from the GOP.
They passed the background check, which was the NRA's idea. Even though lying on it is a felony, the government prosecutes about 2% of those that do it. If the government won't enforce that law, that makes you think they would enforce new laws?

Read what I posted. It was the background check. Everyone who buys a gun, except for private sales which are unenforceable, must pass it to buy a gun. And the government does not enforce that law. It was passed in 1993.

That last background check bill that was passed and that I could find, was the Brady bill in 1994. Is that the bill you are referring to? In 1994, we had a Democratic majority in the House and Senate. We also had a D president. What has the GOP passed?
They get due process. There is a hearing to determine whether we should hold them or let them out until trial.
The hearing is not due process. If it were, so would be the terrorist watch list. Indeed many people who were not guilty were held before trial. The hearing is only to determine flight and danger risk.
That's not true at all, in NY State and others, you can have your license suspended for one year if you are suspected of DUI and refuse to take a breathalyzer test.
After your hearing. The officer must present evidence that you refused. And even at that it's a privilege, not a right.

The most obvious example is refusing people the right to fly based on a terror watch list without due process. There has been very little attention to that restriction until they proposed restriction of gun ownership. Putting constitutionality aside restricting someone from flying because they might be a danger yet allow them to own a gun, does that make any sense at all.
I refuse to put Constitutionality aside. I am against the no fly list where it applies to citizens also. Doing one wrong isn't justification for another wrong. It's actually a very good argument against it. You give up one right, the government will move to take others.
