How are dramatically increasing crime rates not an "Other Controversy?"
Again,
Crime...
is...
not...
Controversial...
Definition of Controversy:
Quote:
noun, plural controversies. 1. a prolonged public dispute, debate, or contention; disputation concerning a matter of opinion.
2. contention, strife, or argument.
Crime rates are statistics and are a true reporting of crime and/or arrests. There is no controversy.
"Oh, but if we put a ban on guns, then people wouldn't die!"
(so said an idiot who doesn't understand that criminals don't care about laws let alone 'bans'...)
Okay, if the murder-ridden parts of Chicago were carved out, it would be a larger area than Baltimore, St. Louis, Detroit, or Newark. So what? That still leaves a larger amount of safer areas than those cities mentioned per capita. Chicago is also massive compared to those cities. I would expect a larger number of unsafe areas in Chicago by land area, because Chicago is larger in land area. However, how does Chicago measure up in safe places by land area compared to Detroit? Newark? Baltimore? St. Louis?
Of those cities mentioned, I'm more scared of St. Louis than anything else. I watched Gangland on The History Channel. This is what makes St. Louis scary. Alot of violent crime for a small area. Total land area of St. Louis is 61.9 square miles. In larger cities, you can hide from your enemy. In St. Louis, your enemy is right across the alley. No need for a drive by. Just get the gun and walk over.
Does anyone have an explanation why Chicago has had the most mass shootings of any US city in 2016? In fact, there have been more mass shootings in Chicago than nearly every state.

Again, crime rates are not controversial. In 2003 Chicago had over 600 murders total. In 2004 it was around 400 murders total, which is a huge decline, yet the media didn't make a big deal of it then.
Since then murder rates have gone up and down over the years, sometimes in the 400 range, sometimes in the 500 range or above. Evidently this year will be a higher year. Last year, even though there were constant posts as well around here back then, turned out not to hit the 500 mark. Yet in 2012 they surpassed that amount as they did in 2008. Some years just have more or less of these sorts of crimes.
Point is though that 500 murders in a city of over 3 million people is not a lot of murder.
Also, Crime is not controversial.
ETA: Will note that I find it interesting that the murders go above 500 a year in Chicago during election years recently. Maybe you find that controversial.

Because Chicago has a lot of street gangs that are still active.
