If enough states threatened to divorce themselves from the US, maybe severely diminished federal powers could be negotiated. I think everyone can agree that would be a very good thing.

We invaded Afghanistan towards the end of 2001 and we invaded IRAQ in 2003. That's roughly 15 and 13 years respectively.
So, the "tyranny" started during George W Bush's administration and not during the "last 8 years".
You are entitled to dislike the "Negro in the White House", but you are not entitled to your own inaccurate math and the manipulation of historical data.
