I still don't understand how a group of people can immigrate to America then demand that their new hosts change their ways. Even more mind boggling is how our elected seem to be bending over backwards to accommodate these groups.

The governor of Illinois is trying to pass a law that would allow a group of muslims to have a say in illinois government. the Legislature would create a 21-member Illinois Muslim-American Advisory Council.

Illinois Measure Would Create Advisory Council for Muslims - ABC News

Why does the muslim community need any influence in the way the Gov. is operated? If they do not like how things are going than I would suggest that they become citizens and get out and vote.
All citizens have the right to vote and most do not need a special interest advisory council to speak for them.

I wonder since there is still a majority of Americans that believe that muslims should not be able to setup courts in their communities within the USA that dictate Sharia law if this is a way for them to get their message across? Is this the first step to overall Sharia law?

Have we ever had a group of people in our history that has immigrated to America and made such demands that are being heard and answered? Are our elected so blind that they don't see what is going on?
This just feels like an invasion and we are letting it happen.
Will we wake up in the near future and our America will be no more?

I lived in illinois for over 20 years. I just visited my old town recently and so glad I left. It was over-ran by muslims. Entire strips malls were in Arabic. I couldn't wait to leave.

With all the groups in IL that do not have a special advisory committee, this seems to be nothing more than pandering.

Despite what some of the dopes here would tell you, since they don't keep up with the news, people have been leaving the city and state for some time. It's a mess. Between insane property taxes, highly taxed gasoline, constant construction, and corrupt politics, it's not that difficult for people to make other choices.

Considering the government corruption and the weekend death rates in the cities maybe any law would be an improvement.

That is what I'm talking about. There are endless special interest groups in most states in the country but they don't get their own 21 person committee to aide in the governing of their people.

I wonder just how much the Governor will be beholding to this committee? How far will he go to appease them? Will the people who voted him in have any say at all or will they be told if they are displeased they can vote him out when the next election rolls around?

I wonder how long it will be before the muslim crowd is large enough to vote their own people into office.

Is this what Obama meant when he told us he was going to fundamentally change america?

Well, it only took a majority on the city counsel in Hamtramck, MI to get the call to prayers put over the loudspeakers, so who knows what they'll be asking for here.

Bad bad idea. He should talk to some of the corporations who wanted to be accommodating, only to find out that they weren't doing enough and now have to deal with lawsuits because they didn't cave in to all of their demands.

I'm have no problem with American-Muslims, but don't think businesses or government should be bending over backwards for any group.

This is pandering non-sense. They need to get a budget and not worry about special interest groups.
