Intelligent Americans can agree on respecting others. This blog has many intelligent writers, but unfortunately there are many unintelligent people who throw a lot of mud. Many times very disrespectfully, especially at the President when instead of always questioning the government, there should be an equal questioning of where the information came from. This is not a pro-Bush, nor anti-Bush statement. I feel we should respect the offices of all our government, demand integrity at every level from town hall to Congress, the West Wing, and the Supreme Court, but I also think we should respect anyone who stands for freedom and will carry their fair share of the responsibility of protecting those freedoms for all.
I don't think we should ever be assuming, nor should we question every point from a person or group we generally disagree with.
Can anyone agree on anything? I was tempted to say that Americans can't agree on anything, but after about 2 seconds of thought I realized it is not just Americans who can't agree, it is everybody. I mean if people actually agreed on anything there would be no need for war...we would have world peace
The biggest issue America faces is respect. While we don't necessarily like another person or what they say, feel or do, it is necessary that we respect each other. Respect includes thinking about others before we think only of ourselves. If we can get a point of simple respect, then our disagreements will be to our nation's advantage and therefore our own.
