Leaving aside the argument over whether or not crime is on the increase or decline, what types of crimes, in what areas, etc., I feel crime in only a minor portion of what is corroding our nation (and really, the world as a whole.) I think the bigger problem lies with the people who own most of everything and plan to own more. It's a relatively small group of people who are gaining more and more wealth, property and power, and they are doing it on the backs of everyone else.

When people are so squeezed that, even when they work a good, full time job, they can't afford to pay rent or mortgage, keep the utilities on AND feed their families at the same time, they get desperate. Crime may see an uptick as a result.

I do agree that American poverty isn't the same as poverty in many other countries. Poor people here, or those who consider themselves poor, often do have cell phones, cars, cable tv, etc. Yet it does seem harder year by year to get by. Prices go up, but wages don't keep pace. Taxes go up, insurance rates, etc., but people aren't earning more money in order to compensate.

I mean, the average American taxpayer is bailing out Wall Street Banks--run by some of the wealthiest people in the history of the world--to the tune of 5 TRILLION dollars, and that leaves aside corporate welfare in the form of tax breaks and shelters and loopholes, subsidies and incentives, etc., that we all pay for.

In my state of Jokelahoma (might as well call it Brokelahoma now) our incompetent, corrupt clown parade of legislators (who, of course, all claim to be "small government" ) robbed the state bank and citizens in order to pay for huge incentives to have big business (mostly multinational oil companies) come in and "create jobs!" and "stimulate the economy!" Well, they did that, fracking all the way and turning Oklahoma into Earthquake Central...for about 3 years. Now the boom is over and those companies all went away to greener (oilier) pastures to do the same thing. They reaped hundreds and hundreds of billions in profits which in the long term benefited about a handful of people.

And now Oklahoma is closing state offices, putting people out of work in droves, cutting back on schools (yay four-day school week because we can't afford to stay open longer!) and on and on...

Once again, the corporate monarchs steamroll over the common people, and we pay them for the privilege of being steamrolled and robbed by them. Corporate welfare costs the average American taxpayer literally 100X annually what it costs the average American taxpayer to pay for social programs like SNAP and TANF, yet somehow the working class immigrant family coming here to try for a better life, the single mother who needs food assistance, the blue collar worker who's in a union--THESE are the people painted as "The Enemy" and seen as what will be the cause of our inevitable, ultimate economic collapse, while a small contingent--the ".01%" we'll call them, pocket everything and laugh all the way to the bank while we scramble for a can of Spaghetti-Os.

Fine. Do you consider everyone who comes here illegally to automatically be "trash?"

Let's start from there.

Can you cite the ratio of illegal immigrants to legitimate immigrants, quantify crime-related data on both groups and extrapolate from there what percentage if immigrants are "trash?"

Do you feel they get "trashier" the more brown they are? Or the less they look and think like you?

I am asserting that the U.S. has a human trafficking problem...
I am also asserting that in my area, every year, we hear about vans waiting outside of schools, or a man who approached kids from a van, trying to grab them....or talk to them...it is a growing problem....

Just b/c you have not heard of it, doesn't mean it isn't happening.
To make light of it, is to me, idiotic....it may never happen anywhere near you....however, if it does, then what? That particular parent might have prevented it, by a little bit of knowledge.

What I mean is, by we have to change our way of thinking is this

This is no longer a safe world...it isn't the same world we had growing up...parents fear leaving their kids outside to play....due to this problem and also child prediters....

When my son was small and living at home, we always had family meetings where we discussed, what to do if there is a fire in the home...or what to do, if someone grabs you and tries to run away with you....and what not to do.

There is a man who performed many tests, by using computers to lure children to a park, or restaurant...all the parents said, "My child would never go". Well, the man contacted the child when the child thought the parents were not home...and one of them even invited the man to come to her home. She was 13 years old. When the man came to the home, the parents were shocked, and really scared that the daughter they thought would never do such a thing, did so. And there were many other tests done with children and their parents....shows how trusting our children are.

Now, you can believe it or not, I don't really care....it is in fact happening...and I'm not saying all illegals, but I do know that some, not all have been illegals from Mexico and many other countries. Buddy, human trafficking is a lucrative business....period. (Please think about it) and don't be so quick to diss it....it does happen. And yes, crime in the U.S. is rising...believe it, or not....I don't really care.

https://www.ice.gov/factsheets/human-trafficking

Oh and by the way, this isn't fear mongering....this is simply preventative training for everyone....
At work we had training on what to do if a shooter gets in our building....
it's common sense...we also have fire drills, again, common sense....
I didn't say there is no human trafficking. What I said was prove the correlation of illegal immigrants to kidnapping and human trafficking.

Your war on facts is rather amusing.

I saw this and instead of "SCARING" people, lets wake the heck up and teach our kids what to look for, and what to do, in the event this might happen.

Our world is no longer as safe as it used to be....and as I suggested before, it's easy to diss it, until it happens in your community....right, or maybe your neighbor, your neice, or worse, your own child.
That is the trouble with our society today, we're sheep, unless it happens to us, we continue grazing...

I was looking for a constructive discussion on what we could do as parents, to our children to help protect them....but I can see, it falls on deaf ears....

I want to scare everyone????? Geeze Louise?

Have you ever done a fire drill in your home with your kids?
Does your family know what to do?

Same thing...prepare for what may never happen...but knowledge is power.
Would have loved to have that discussion about personal safety and situational awareness with my 4 granddaughters and discuss it with you but you immediately alienated me in your OP by inferring that it's all because our borders are wide open and we are letting in all the worlds rapists and child kidnappers.
That is not true at all and taints any further discussion.
If you want to talk about having a family conversation about personal safety that's one thing. If you want to parrot Trump and say it's because somehow the imaginary open border is the problem, then that's an entire other issue.

We will always be a violent, aggressive, and immoral "society" as long as the "government" has the "right" to initiate force upon the individual. "Ordering" or "governing" a "society" with aggression only creates a "society" of aggression.

"Corporations" are fictional entities created by, protected by, and given "rights" by the "government". Anything that results from them is the result of "government". The Omnipotent Ruling Elite, the Slave Masters of the entire American population (and the rest of the world for that matter) are the Central Banking Families and friends who create and control the fiat currencies. They have the exclusive right to counterfeit fiat at will and to charge usury on the counterfeit "loaned" to the people, and that counterfeit fiat is backed only by perpetual slavery of those who must use it in the economy (everyone).

People would all be doing fine if they had a "right" to counterfeit currency, loan that counterfeit to themselves at 0% interest, multiply that amount by a factor of ten, then "loan" out that "investment" to others and charge usury for the "service" of their fictional "investment". The Omnipotent Financier Overlord Parasites can consume as much wealth from the people as they please with no limit or barrier whatsoever. THAT is why the .001% owns virtually everything and their consolidation of wealth will only continue to be more concentrated. They literally have a "legalized" form of absolute slavery and consolidation of all wealth at their disposal.

The ONLY hope for human freedom to exist in any real sense when dealing with the Omnipotent Parasites of Humanity, to stem widespread misery, deprivation, and death throughout the world is to revolutionize our "monetary" system.

Baby steps:

Abolish Usury

Abolish Fiat Currency

Abolish Partial Reserve "Banking"

Future:

Then we would have to work on redefining "value" in terms of what is invested rather than simply being based upon how much leverage one could apply towards another...

Your post is profoundly accurate, and well done, thank you

My son is a police officer, and has worked in several states, we also have been a family who were close to officers, working in different areas....

and yes, crime is most certainly going up....but most people refuse to see it, or are misinformed.
and you talk about corruption, do you know there are hords of people who refuse to believe this....
I see it all the time, everything keeps going up, where are all the taxes that they are collecting going to?

NJ, for Instance, is one of the highest tax brackets, and they had years of booming businesses from all the Casinos, until other surrounding states saw how much money they were making and quickly legalized gambling. So, for all those years, NJ should have been saving money and making an ungodly amount of money, from tourists, as their prices also kept going up....do you know, it's more expensive to stay in NJ, then it is in the outer banks. And there are no longer off season prices....

So, all that tax money, and their still raising prices and claim there is no money to fix bridges, so now they're going to tax gas?

But, common everyday people put up with it, they believe it and pay it....instead of questioning it and reporting it....people don't stick together any longer, and as long as we keep paying, the prices will continue to rise.

Don't worry about New Jersey. they have a staunch, hard line Republican governor in Christie (ex attorney General and prosecutor appointed by GW Bush) who should straighten everything out.

I certainly hope your right, they've been in the red for many many years, and Christie is hated.
