This is terrible. The correct actions when pulled over are to steer the car over to the side safely, turn off the engine, open your window and keep hands on the steering wheel.

Officer comes to the window asks for license and reg. You inform officer of carry license and firearm if you have it.

Then? What happens? Not sure.

Anyone know police protocol for CC drivers getting pulled over for minor traffic offense? What if gun and registration are in the glove compartment? What if gun and license are in the pocket? It seems important in this case if police followed proper protocol. They would know this more than the person being stopped.

They, among other things, fail to understand that the media has zero incentive to show what blacks do within their community, because it hurts the controversial, divisive narrative they continually attempt to inflame between races.
Preach Preach Preach!!! They have no clue whatsoever

You can never take race out of any situation especially when things from the past continue to be displayed in our current society guess what the past will always be mentioned.

Protocol depends on the state, but generally the concealed carrier informs the cop that they are in possession of a gun and have a permit for concealed carry, and inform the cop where the gun is; end of story. It really is a non-issue for the most part, many concealed carry people are pulled over every day without anything coming of it.

From this event, looks like the cop screwed up, and if so, should be punished appropriately. I cannot as of now find anything the guy did wrong to invite deadly force by the cop.

Some of you talk about this as a new thing. It has always happened. At least now, some have the opportunity to film it. If there was no camera, this would not be a story, and nothing would have happened. This happens far too often. Driving while black. It can cost you your life.

Race is injected into a a lot of situations which otherwise would have been non-racial.

Just wondering if the gun is in the area the person has to go to get the documents, what happens? It seems strange police would take no precautions just because the person has a CC license. I would rather in such a case the officer retrieve the license because I would be too nervous to reach anywhere near the legal gun.

The media is to blame for the rampages for occurring in the first place. They decide what is cool and what isn't. People buy into the media's perspective. If someone doesn't fit the criteria, they get rejected by everyone else. That person gets angry and people are dead.

Been pulled over plenty of times (speeding) and have never had a cop jump out of his car as you say. They typically stop you, radio in your plates and then finally make their way over to you. Plenty of time to have your ID in hand.
He wasn't the driver!
80-90% of the time, they only ask for the driver's ID.

He was the driver. Look where the steering wheel is.
