I can remember when in the 70s it was said we are seeing the end of America, in the 80s it continued through about three quarters. Someone is always saying we are seeing the end of our times. If you read Plato to Hitler its always the kids of today are the end. Not saying we don't have problems and things don't need to be corrected but I doubt its the end.

This is true. Most world powers crumble from internal problems. Very few, if any, from external attacks.
It's inevitable that any empire will go this route at some point in their history. It's just human nature. We can't seem to maintain what we have for too long it seems. The only hope is that something better will come out of the ashes.
