Blacks get kid glove treatment by the cops overall compared to whites and Hispanics. especially when you consider black males are 6% of the population and commit the majority of murders in the country but twice as many whites are killed by cops than blacks. This whole BLM movement is political and has resulted in the deaths of many more blacks in places like Baltimore, Chicago...and motivated the killing of cops in Dallas. But I guess if it can motivate some blacks and othesr to vote Democrat, it's worth a few thousand more blacks being killed and some cops killed.

Black people are only 12% of the population. Them being killed more than 12% of the time means they are killed at a disproportionate rate....

If you are only going to use the amount who are involved in crime, then why don't you do this when looking at other statistics in regards to black people, like since only 25% of blacks live in poverty, only use that percentage to prove that they are more/less like to use social welfare programs.

IMO your OP article, OP is just a way to "fudge" the numbers.

Again, if more than 12% are killed, it is a disproportionate amount that are killed.

Word, but you know what? That kid glove treatment is killing us. I assure you, black people would much rather be treated like dirt by police the way most whites and hispanics are. Can you get the word around in police circles? Please?

...a better job of clarifying? But wouldn't that interfere with the campaign to agitate potential Democratic Party voters by making them believe that racists want to kill them?

Interesting read. Basically shows that blacks make up 26% of police shootings, which is in line with the percentage of violent crime committed by blacks 24% and murders committed by blacks half.

It is interesting that if a person tries to run over a cop with their car and the cop shoots the person, the person was an "unarmed" person shot by a cop. Isn't that misleading to include those instances as "unarmed" police shootings?

residinghere2007, I get what you were saying, but it is a little bit of a ramble. Let me say it a different way

Not everyone killed by an officer is a criminal therefore, comparing the shooting rate to criminality doesnt make sense.

Using "not everyone" in a sentence intended to make a point about a rate doesn't make sense.

It's a way to understand the numbers and realize that, while the percentage of black people among those being killed by police is high relative to the percentage of blacks in the general population, this does not necessarily mean that police are targeting blacks.

How did I do?
Not so well, but I'm sure it would have been a popular opinion in the 1950's.

Rates are about percentages and averages for groups. "Not everyone" is about citing exceptions to the rule, which may be rare or even singular and have no relevance to rates.
