Obamacare was written by and for the Insurance Industry.

It is expensive because Big Pharma and the Insurance Industry want it that way to reward execs and shareholders at the peoples expense. It is the most expensive industry in this country and also the most expensive in the world.

India has a thriving drug copying market.

The same reason folks in India pay a different price for an iPad. For what ever reason, its how much one can squeeze the populous, or say the business model--what the market can bare.

the entire US medical cost industry is so completely astronomical. $4K for 45 minutes in recovery for out patient surgery. Yea, that seems completely reasonable

God forbid our politicians tackle that issue, which is why insurance costs so much!
The wait time is also horrible in this country compared to other countries.
Every time I go to the doctor, I wait no less than 45 minutes, when I was overseas, I usually am seen right away

Repeal Kefauver-Harris.

Pharmacy companies must pay big government bribes to stay in the game. You are the kind of person who would blame the shopkeeper for paying the mob protection money.

Let me thank Big Pharm for the extra decade I got to share living in this world with my Dad. I can never thank Big Pharm enough for that.

The problem is patents are a protectionist scam once the research costs have been paid for
We should track research costs and kill patents once costs have been met to encourage market competition

Those who aren't as fortunate have to pay three or four figures (usually on credit cards) whatever the cash price is.
Not always the case. It depends on what tier a particular drug falls into.
