Hey but people just believe blacks and Latinos just make this stuff up. When we talk about Racial inequality and Racial bias

fifth Third Bank is far from the only financial institution investigated for racial discrimination related to auto loans. Ally Bank, American Honda Financial and Evergreen Bank have also violated the Equal Credit Protection Act. Racial discrimination in this lending sector now amounts to roughly $194 million. And given that race-based income inequality remains a pressing problem both in and out of the U.S

Wow, I'm not sure they addressed the problem here. Banks have always provided dealers a base rate and allowed them to raise it to make some money for themselves for generating the loan.

So it would seem it was the dealers that were charging minorities more.

If one wants to argue that the practice needs to end, fine, argue that but it seems to me that it is the dealers, or at least the dealers that also should be paying for this.

Why did they get a pass?

1. That article is from last October.
2. Check the source. Obviously a site like that is probably only going to report news that fits there agenda.
3. I'm sure things like this do happen but in all due respect if you want people take a post like this serious you need to work on #2 because this is no different than some conservative poster posting something from teaparty.org & expecting people to think everything is true.

Another related issue is car insurance.

Car insurance will charge someone more if they live in a high auto-theft area like Detroit, but they will charge the exact same person less if they move to a low auto-theft area like the Upper Peninsula.

This inherently charges black people more than whites (on average - when spread out over the groups) for auto insurance even though it isn't based on race. A white in Detroit will pay more and blacks will pay less in the Upper Peninsula, but more blacks live in high auto-theft areas. I can see arguments on both sides - sort of like charging males more for life insurance.

So that makes sense & seems like that is an easy way to throw race into news articles even when the root issue is not race but where they live right?

Banks, insurance companies etc.. work to make a profit. They look at percentages all the time. Only makes sense for car insurance companies to do that.

Well shouldn't the lender of the money decide who gets the money and the terms?
