Erdogan needs to go. The Turkish secular state -- and Ataturk's vision -- must be preserved from the efforts of the Islamofascists.

As usual, Obama's administration is dumb and blind:

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told reporters in Moscow that he has been given reports about what is going on. "I don't have any details. I hope there will be peace, stability and continuity in Turkey," he said. (CNN)

Friday’s coup attempt in Turkey took U.S. intelligence officials by surprise, a U.S. official said. (LAT)

I hope they can pull it off, Erdogan has not been a good thing for Turkey. Journalists arrested, the mess in Syria with Russia and the involvement in ISIS and terrorism said good decisions are not being made.

The latest, Gun fire heard around the presidential palace. Jets and helicopters present. A lot of confusion.

No, not really. We are pals in NATO and Turkey allows the US to have a rather large military presence in the country which allows the western allies a place from which to launch attacks on ISIS in Syria and other places.

Gee, I wish I could make that last sentence above longer......not.

While Erdogan is a poor leader and is in fact leading Turkey on the path to eventual ruin with his increasing islamization of that society, he is the legitimately elected President.

Continual military coup are simply not a sustainable way to ensure progress and secularism. That Turkey, despite having been founded by such enlightened men, cannot maintain these things except by military imposition even after all of these years is disturbing. As seems to be the case in most Muslim majority nations, when people are given democratic choice, they chose poorly. Its an unfortunate testament to the hold clerics have on the minds of a sheepish populace
