So many people are caught up trying to "prove" or "disprove" the existence of "God". Why does it even matter whether God exists? How is it any more relevant to my life than the existence of dark matter?
If God exists, it only has relevance to my life if he's actively involved in the universe in a way that affects my experience of reality, and if I'm able to influence that involvement by, say, praying or going to church or whatever he wants me to do. In other words, it only matters if he's the type of God who the major religions believe in.
Suppose for the sake of argument that God exists. If I can't see any evidence of his existense affecting my experience of reality, then how do I know that he is like the major religions describe him as, and how do I know which major religion has the accurate or closest to accurate idea of him? The only way I know of is to examine the evidence to see which of the major religions doesn't seem made up. But all of them seem made up to me.
