Correct, he professed to be a libertarian. But he did not shoot anyone as the OP's thread topic implies! Or did you notice the topic?

As for the recent shooters, yes some have been vets, but they were also black.

Regardless the number of shooters being vets, this number is minisule when compared to the number of vets there are in the USA; as it would be if you compared the number of shooters to the black population.

I'll let a math major figure out the percentage.

But as a vet, I find this thread to be insulting by implying vets are all going to be terrorists. Would you liberals like it if the heading was changed to "Why are all recent shooters black"? I don't think so.....

What exactly is causing this??? The lack of information and knowledge from your posts never surprises me.

We know most of the mass shooters are medicated. Vets come back in disarray. They don't get the help they need. They are given the quick fix. Here's your meds, see you in six months, maybe.

There are a lot of veterans and a lot of Democrats. I don't think that means anything. If the shooters are black, it is very likely that they will also be Democrats although that trend is starting to change as they realize being a Dem hasn't gotten them anywhere but where they started out.

I do wonder if they were on any medication as I read that in those school tragedies that nearly all or all the students were on prescription medications.

Seriously, "big pharma" is big business in the USA and they give them out like my doctor used to give out Dum-Dums. Medication Nation!

One of our candidates for POTUS loves "big pharma" and they love her, so beware!

Vets aren't all the same -- they come from different walks of life, have different reasons for having served, and their own personal definitions of patriotism. They do not have a single unifying ideology just because they all had the same job.

There are a couple old threads here on CD about it. One thing I'd point out is there's no indication the Dallas shooter actually saw combat during his service; don't know about the Baton Rouge shooter. OTOH the 'Texas Tower Sniper' Charles Whitman didn't see any combat either during his stint in the Marines.
Dallas whack job was a carpenter and did not see combat.

Most veterans do not see combat.

More US military is stationed in Japan than the Middle East.

Many who present or claim PTSD symptoms and/ or are otherwise suicidal, have never seen combat.

Not clear if today's all volunteer military attracts more people who have issues going in or if the discipline creates incremental stress.

Many, many veterans make application to the VA for routine healthcare or conditions unrelated to their service and are put on a wait list.

It has been and continues to be one of the challenges the VA has been facing for decades. Not clear anyone ever anticipated lifetime healthcare for veterans for conditions unrelated to their military service.

There are "veterans" and then there are veterans. Serving in the human resource corp is nowhere near the same thing as serving in infantry, tanks, artillery, etc. It would be interesting to know if most of the veteran shooters had been in combat jobs or just pushed paper in one of the job areas people sign up for so they can get the GI Bill later on.
