The argument by Islamists and Leftists is exactly the same; West is no better than Islamic countries when it comes to treatment of women. They then shove instances of women beaten by their husband or stabbed by a lunatic in the West.

The ground reality is much different.

The freedoms that women have in the West is unprecedented. They have freedom to wear what they want, convert to any religion, equal inheritance laws, freedom as basic as ride a motorcycle, participate in a beauty pageant, marry and divorce as they wish, sexual freedom, etc.

To say women in Pakistan, Egypt, Malaysia etc. have the same freedoms as women in France, US or Australia is simply not true.

Execution in the US is a state issue. Very few are actually executed in the US, regardless of state laws, despite some horrendous crimes.

1999 was a peak year for executions. 98 were executed.
