The definition of the term has been revised downward so often that it almost unrecognizable.

How many of those incidents were committed by NRA members, concealed license holders and other law abiding citizens. How many were the result of gang fights, drug deals and other assorted driveby shootings?

What laws can we pass to prevent street criminals from shooting people?

So far in 2016 in 'Murica there's been about 7600 gun deaths reported. I'm guessing just a few of those were innocent people killed by bad people with guns. With all the armed superheros out there to save the day, that number should be way down.

The MA ban isn't for ALL gun from what I've read on the subject, so there's till plenty of options out there for all the Cialis fueled "tough-guys" to get in touch with their inner Jason Bourne, isn't there?

It could potentially be construed as banning all semi-automatic firearms, i.e. most handguns and quite a few popular rifles.

And it won't make a bit of difference in guns deaths in the state, but it'll make thousands of legal gun owners potential felons.

But even with the watered down definition (4 or more victims, IIRC) that's STILL too many, isn't it? EVen if the definition is more than ONE victim, an average of almost 1 per day is still too high-esp for the so-called "greatest nation on Earth, and Beacon of Freedom" IDK how many were started by NRA members, but I ask, how many, by any definition, were STOPPED by one.

What laws can be passed to prevent street criminals from shooting innocents? Probably nothing-look how armed to the teeth law-abiding folks in Texas and Florida are, and there is STILL a violent crime problem there. IDK if anything can be done in the US-the country is too far gone, to be honest. The only things that MAY work are more decent paying jobs, better schools, more affordable higher education, less poverty, end the war on drugs- but those concepts are considered Un-American! Gotta take care of the already wealthy and Big Business-anything that doesn't line their pockets, will never occur over there. God Bless America should be changed to God HELP America! Praise Jesus and pass the ammo!!!

Absolutely, and when some common sense tactics start being proposed i will be on board 100% . So far not a damn thing proposed by the left has addressed the issue.

Good job, MA. So they essentially banned damn near all firearms except for pump-action shotguns and bolt-action sniper rifles.

What's ironic is that those two types of weapons can both do WAY more damage than a semiautomatic handgun. I would much rather someone pull a .22 pistol on me than a 12 gauge (which can be more easily concealed than you think) or pick me off from 1km away with a Barrett. But you anti-gun nuts won.

Interesting, Brazil has strict firearms laws, which they are thinking of changing.

I admit I'm beginning to think that very few, if any additional gun laws will help america. My former home is too far gone. Guns and violence are part of the american culture-way too many think it makes them omnipotent cause they have a gun. Whatever happened to fighting like a man??? On the other hand, socio-economic policies that benefit only the rich and Corporate America, has led to abject poverty, hunger, anger and desperation. When you have created a society of haves and have nots, with rules that favor the haves; then a government that is punitive in nature, as opposed to one that is actually FOR its people, it's no shock as to what will happen. It's tough to pull yourself up by bootstraps that aren;t available to you. Good Luck america, you'll need it. You're reaping what you've sown

Likewise. I wish the president would announce tens of thousands of new police officers to patrol the streets. Stiffer sentences for illegally carrying/using guns. A major crackdown on gangs. The immediate deportation of anyone illegally in the country who commits a serious crime or has a serious crime on their record. Funding for police de-escalation training. Massive increases in mental health treatment spending. Celebrity-driven programs to teach wannabe gangsters that gangs and gunfights aren't cool.

"No, we'll take away as many guns from the average citizen as we can and turn them into felons with a stroke of a pen and insinuate that they don't care that first graders got murdered and call them 'bitter clingers' and we'll make it as difficult as possible for them to exercise their Second Amendment rights."
