Why can't the GOP say - we'll give you gay marriage and stop creating anti LGBT laws, and Dems stop with the 2A rhetoric.

at least for a few years.

GOP, leave the abortion issue alone, Dems, start admitting we have a terrible illegal immigration problem and sanctuary cities are only making the problem worse.

didn't we all learn how to compromise in kindergarten?

You need a strong leader for that and right now we don't have one. You need someone that can negotiate and compromise and right now nobody can do that. You also need a willingness on both sides of the isle, and right now they won't do that. They fear giving in to the other side and giving up something.

In any negotiation there is give and take. That is the Art of the Deal. You just need someone who can get it done.

For compromise to work, there has to be a basic level of trust. There also needs to be a common starting point. The two factions have neither.

Some things shouldn't be compromised on and one of them is illegal immigration. It's about our laws, the security and well being of our country and its citizens.

Expanding on the above using 2A as an example. Every single time a compromise has been reached on the "absolute last gun control law needed because this will fix the problem" within a couple years the control/grabber/outlaw firearms side comes out with "just one more absolute last gun control law needed because this will fix the problem".

You're seeing that play out in Massachusetts right now where the State Attorney General has imposed what looks to be the Australian Model of gun control and illegalized any firearm that is more than a single shot or double barrel gun. The resolution will no doubt play out in Court.

I don't know why people are so against tighter gun laws. There is absolutely no reason why anybody needs an assault rifle, none.

there are VERY tight gun laws already in place. have you ever tried going to a store and buying one? do you know what your county laws are? do you have to get a carry permit?

how do you stop criminals from committing crime?

no one is against gun laws. NO ONE

It can be achieved, but it would be a greater loss to the Democrats since it appeals based on emotions and not logic.

I think GOP should concede on Gay marriage and Abortion. Democrats should concede on promoting lawlessness.

right now there can be no compromise, because each party wants something they can beat the other party over the head with to gain power. democrats are going to beat the republicans up over social issues, and republicans are going to beat democrats up over fiscal and constitutional issues.

as for gun laws, there are already thousands of gun laws on the books right now, so instead of making new laws to try and make the illegal use of guns more illegal, how about we start enforcing the laws already on the books?

Exhibit A as to why compromise is impossible.
