Let's do it. We hear over and over that mass incarceration is causing problems in American society, why don't we (the Federal government) abolish prisons once and for all and make everyone happy?
Well when we create fictional crimes, a lot of people have to get locked up. Anyway...
Prisons are a foolish idea anyway.
Retaliatory force, the only just form of force, should be reserved for those who initiate force upon another.
That force should be used to stop the act of aggression and return the victim to the state prior to the aggression.
Putting people in cages often does nothing more than punish those who have to fund the cages and does nothing for the victims of the perpetrator's aggression.
As to those who murder or commit horrible crimes of violence. Public stocks should be returned so that they can truly be judged by their peers.

I don't want to abolish prisons. I'm against it! I'm daring progressives who rant about mass incarceration. If they want to abolish prisons, go do it. Let's see what the progressives will do next.
