Why is America so hopelessly divided, and what can be done to fix it?

Kidding, right?

There has always been those that feel government is a problem and we had a Revolution with the British bullies and a Civil War with the federal government being bullies, because of it.
Then there are those that feel government force, intimidation and bullying, is the only solution to everything human.
Even things that are working well, government has to get involved and screw it all up, because they see a revenue for government and power to control.

They're going through that in Turkey now. Could easily happen here.

I see America's diviseness as the result of a struggle between,
one one side, whites with what are now considered old-fashioned
(and, I would argue, common sense) values, and on the other
side, non-whites with a grudge against whites, way too many
immgrants who know from nothing, the disease of liberalism, and
political correctness.

I'm not sure what can be done about the race issue. You could argue
that more forceful white unity might sober up --and make
more acceptable to compromise---some of the begrudging
non-whites, but I'm not hopeful here.Immigration should be curtailed
until immigrants get a better chance to have a look at "old-fashioned"
American values than they get when the Democrats indoctrinate them.
I don't know how to fight the diease of liberalism---for so many people
being a liberal is congential; it's just the way they are. It is one of
my sayings that an empire survives to the degree it successfully
suffers its liberals--when people become conviced two and two equals
five or the barbarians at the gate are just looking for a better
way of life, there's not much you can do.

As for political correctness--- which leads people to feel common sense
American values are bigoted and fascist--you need to fight it using
dire tactics, such as creating organiziations that forcefully fight the
disease.

First they aren't undocumented they are illegal aliens. It is those with an agenda that don't care about our laws, have ethnic ties to illegals or hire them for profit. How would America be divided by deporting illegal aliens when they aren't our own citizens but law breaking foreingers and have a negative impact on our nation? Of course the unwarranted race card is pulled on this issue as well as the other issues you mentioned.

It used to be the president brought both sides of the aisle together and run the country.. today Obama just vetoes the bills or the dems just put it on the shelf and the Republicans gave up altogether..

I have never saw this president ever work with the republicans.. Obama is his way or no way.. that is plain.

If you believe the divide is between "white" and "non-white", that is just an opinion. The "divide" is about which thugs will be imposing their will upon everyone else through government aggression, violence, and coercion. So it isn't really a divide at all. Just thugs battling thugs over who will be the "justified" oppressor of others...

One sde, the Dems. want to import votes at all costs. The other side (America) wants to keep our nation great, and return to our previous status as unquestioned leader of the free world. obama has put a HUGE question mark behind that premise.

There are two camps with two distinct viewpoints:

1. Involuntary statists: At birth a person has entered into a social contract. The state owns the rights of all people and delegates these rights to the individual over his lifetime as it sees fit thru whatever means deemed necessary.

2. Non-involuntary statists: At birth a person has all the rights afforded to him by merely being alive. He may do as he wishes without external force applied to him unless he violates the rights of others (force initiation...going against the NAP).

Well over 99% of the population falls into category 1...unfortunately.

And sadly those 99% of thugs and tyrants wave their flags and talk about the "land of the free"....how sad and disgusting...

America is filled with immoral and evil thugs and tyrants who hate human freedom and hate humanity in general...their only common uniting "principle" is that they all think imposing their personal will upon their neighbors with government aggression, violence, and coercion is "just"...

It's the sense of desperation within people that is truly sad and disturbing.

"If I don't manipulate/leverage against my neighbor (using the government's long arm) they will undoubtedly strike me first."

It's exactly what the State wants us to do. It's why we have large swaths of suburbs where middle class folks play games against their neighbors with property lines, heights of fences, burning rubbish "illegally", etc. and then call the local authorities on each other.

We are our own gestapo reporting on each other. We are paranoid.

The vast majorly of people simply want to be left alone and enjoy life...if they really sat down and thought about it. The State pits us against each other and we play along. We don't own our bodies or fruits of our labor so the desperation mounts.

"If I don't exploit my neighbor or weaken him the State won't grant me rights and privileges."

What a sad state of affairs.
