Perhaps it would have been better if Black Africans had NOT captured, enslaved and sold other African Blacks into the Atlantic slave trade for their own profit, no?
NO Black Africans captured and sold by other African Blacks into the Atlantic slave trade = NO Black slavery in North America
That's what should have happened, but Blacks betrayed their own race for personal gain and profit LONG before the first Black slave even existed in North America.
Those that did that, whether Black or White or Orange, were and are evil.
Period.

And I hope that the Republicans keep doing what they've been doing in this regard because it will keep them losing Blacks and Latinos for generations to come. And as the nation becomes majority minority, the Republican Party will dwindle, dwindle, dwindle.

No apologizes for the past. If we lived then we would do what we needed to survive, then to prosper, then accept what we believed in as the order of things,etc. Much as we do now. Different world. But not so different at its roots.
I recall reading how the Spanish court held a debate on how to consider the New World native peoples. Illuminating the debates. A bit modern, a bit ancient, a bit not from the realm of our understanding. As would be expected in the mid 1500s. Slavery and other social constructs not so different.
So in your opinion, God smiles down most on slave owners?
I accepted that long ago.
And then I moved into modern times where the racists are mostly in the Republican Party.
Because I don't deny history or current events.
Yet the dems worshipped the KKK Grand Wizard from West Virginia, Senator Byrd.
The dems have more racists. It's not even close. When Obama was running, how often did the dems say they wanted a black president?
