Tall Traveller
It started with slavery (thanks Democrats), continued with Jim Crow (thanks Dems), and now is propagated by BLM and racial preferences (thanks Democrats).

Totally revisionism or just plain ignorance. To think that the democratic party of the 1800s is the same as todays democratic party is just wrong. I dont believe believe the Republican party of the 1800s is the same as todays republican party either.

The founding fathers owned slaves long before the creation of political parties in America. There were slaves in the new england colonies as well as the middle colonies in addition to the south. Madison a federalist owned slaves and jefferson an anti federalist owned slaves. So did GW and he wasnt affiliated with either party. The democratic party grew out of the democratic republican party which ran against the whigs and later the republican party.
I dont believe that the republican party that ended slavery in the 1800s is the same political party that denounces civil rights, minorities, immigrants, and social programs today. I dont think the democratic party of the 1800s which supported institutionalized slavery and jim crow is the same political party that champions civil rights, unions, and social programs today. I think it is irresponible for anyone to claim they are either. Just shows their ignorance with regard to the political history of our nation.

Yeah, America invented racism and America is the only place it exists.
It's an unfortunate but not uncommon part of the human condition.

Racism exists in all but the most isolated and homogenous societies in the world (of which there are not many left). Doesn't mean we have to accept it, but its not like we can single out any group to shoulder the moral burden.

When discussing history a person's bias dictates how far he/she wants to roll the clock back.

Democrats were not the sole beneficiaries of slavery or racism.

In America, yes, we most certainly can, and that burden belongs to the group that started it.
