It took quite a while for the name "Millennial" to take hold. For the longest time they were called Gen Y.

Whatever Gen Z ends up being called, they'll be the object of disdain from MASSES of hateful/jealous old people. We Gen-X'ers were derided as slackers and the object of incessant complaints for years until the Millennials came along and grabbed all that negative attention. I expect older people will be complaining about them for a LONG time simply because they're such a large and influential group. But Gen Z will get their turn too.

Personally even though I don't quite understand them sometimes, I generally like Millennials and think they have the capacity to really change America for the better. I wish it wasn't such a deep tradition in our society to rag on every new generation that comes along.

These people are your future! Think maybe we'd to well to see the good in them? And help them out where we can??

Hell; the Millennials are starting to hit middle age: 35. Us Gen X people ain't young in 2016 either. The Boomers are starting to drop off cause most of their kind are now "senior citizens". It is what it is.

Lost Generation: born 1883-1900
Greatest Generation: born 1900-1924
Silent Generation: born 1925-1945
Baby Boomers: born 1946-1964
Generation X: born 1965-1980
Millennials: born 1981-2000

Whats the next generation name besides the default choice (generation z) for those born 2000-2020?

If we were to include cuspers which is the following:

Silent/Boomer Cusps: born 1942-1945
Boomer/Gen X Cusps: born 1961-1964
Gen X/Gen Y Cusps: born 1977-1980
Millennial/Post Millennial Cusps: born 1995-1999

In short: with those born 1995-1999 being on the cusp between two generations, the next generation begins with those born 2000 or 2001 to the late 2000s to mid 2000s. Millennials were born 1980-2000.
They are already named: GENERATION SNOWFLAKE

Agreed! Maybe some of us older folks need to get off the computer and spend some quality time with these Gen-Zers. Get to know them, get to know what makes them tick, and see what they're all about. The ones I know are great kids who have strengths and weaknesses that aren't all that different from the ones we had at their age.
