“Turkey is like Iran in 1975,” said one Iranian in Istanbul. “I’m sure we will see it become an Islamic Republic very soon.

Attacks on anything non-Islamic.

For those who were alive at the time and remember how Iran was before the ousting of the Shah and the Ayatollah Khomeini (Shia) took over, Turkey (Sunni) is going the same way.

It's odd we see Putin as our enemy and Erdogan as an ally.

I remember a secular western-like Iran. I remember Iranian college students wearing jeans and looking and acting just like American college students, males and females.

"Mohammad Reza Shah’s reform program was built especially to weaken those classes that supported the traditional system. It consisted of several elements including 1- the land reform 2- sales of some state-owned factories to finance the land reform 3- the enfranchisement of women 4- nationalization of forests and pastures 5- formation of a literacy corps and 6- institution of profit sharing schemes for workers in industry."

If Turkey keeps going more stupid: it won't end well for that country since there'd be more and more reason to support the Kurds into having their own nation.

Turkey is following a similar path to Iran, but is acting like an Iraq under Saddam Hussein.

As long as Turkey is in NATO, they are an ally no matter who happens to be the president.

Turkey is about a strong man taking power in a nation cowing before uncertainty and outside threats. He is using religious and ethnic divisions to promote his ascent. See the pattern there anywhere else?

As for Iran, life was so joyful and lovely and free under the Shah. Take heart, oh fearful rightie! Iran is tilting back to a more secular, democratic country every day. Your kind of right wing thinking is dying off with the older generation much like it is in our own land.

Moral of the two countries (and more including our own)? We are better when the right wing nuts are under the earth instead of on it.

Edgar Cayce the Sleeping Prophet predicted about the strife going on today in Syria,Libya Egypt in Ankara Turkey and the straits around those areas of Australia,India and the Persian Gulf...Earth changes of ocean rise volcanoes earthquakes these signs and events are warning US that we are headed down a path of destruction never seen before.See what is going on with China in the South China Sea,the Middle East is in chaos in those very areas, the volcano over looking Rome has now became active again as with other dormant volcanoes around the world ...
Sign of the time is near a time of Gog and Magog ... Syria and the total destruction of Damascus the oldest civilized city in the world ... So it begins where and when no one knows only God to pick up the pieces and reforge a new beginning.
