Bill Clinton gave us NAFTA and the 2000 China Trade Act.

Hillary and Obama promised in 2008 to renegotiate NAFTA...still waiting.

Hillary likes TPP (even though she denies it) and wants to grant amnesty to illegal workers.

A federal minimum wage won't help you get a job when the country crawls with low-skilled and now legal workers.

The seeds for NAFTA were planted during the Reagan Admin and Bush 2 did the cert onions signing subject to approval by Congress. Took several years for Republicans to take control of both chambers and approve it and Clinton signed it.

China became another " most favored nation" for trading in the 80's subject to annual approval. Republican controlled Congress favored making it permanent and Clinton signed it.

Newt, now a Trump ally, was instrumental in making both happen within Congress.

Both Hillary and Obama promised to pursue renegotion of NAFTA during the 2008 Primary. McCain opposed renegotiation. Obama won the nomination and presidency. He did not follow through. Certainly no overwhelming support to do so by Congress, then or now.

Mexico is attractive to US businesses for reasons beyond comparatively low wages. Land is cheaper. Construction costs are cheaper. It's cheaper to build state of the art facilities than retrofit the rust belt. Payroll taxes are higher. And perhaps most important is that Mexico has more free trade agreements with the rest of the world than any other country which is important to businesses seeking to sell their products to the 95% of the world's population who don't live in the US.

US and German auto and parts manufacturers have been manufacturing in Mexico for decades.

The reap the benefits of CORPORATE WELFARE.

You and me, the taxpayer, (assuming you pay taxes) underwrite employees in this country so they can afford food and a roof over their head while they work for corporations making record profits and not sharing those profits with their employees.
But conservatives feel low pay workers are so poorly skilled or lazy that they are not worth what little pay they do get.

Depending on who is doing the counting and the methodologies used wages have been stagnant for 20-40 years, when adjusted for inflation.

Walmart became the largest private sector employer in the US in the 80's quickly followed by McDonands in the number 2 slot. The trend towards part time employment began 50 years ago.

Illegal immigration became a tidal wave in the 80's. In response, Congress and then Reagan did the amnesty thing. It peaked in 2005/6 with the housing bubble. Don't recall hearing anyone in say, Texas screaming that illegals dominated new construction then or now.

Only a handful of states made e- Verify mandatory for employers. Why is this?

Federal and state legislators have been kicking the can for for than 30 years. It's as bipartisan as it gets.

You are free to disregard the facts and history and blame Obama.

You do realize that GOP has a lock on HOUSE since 2010..blocking anything and every Libs actually got passed with a filibuster and content addition of defunding ACA for 2 years...Then GOP has majority in BOTH house ( Congress since 2012)..SO now you want to bring in the DO NOTHING but defund Congress with a President who very well could sell American's Soul to the Devil???

Dorian..Not sure how well you have followed how Federal ( do nothing Congress ) Congress/Lawmakers/POTUS actually controls Your day to day..

In truth its mostly local government along with STATE decisions/laws that are the one's that cause such personal injury/costs?? They fund or defund most of your daily services ( with Fed infusions)..Fed's do not make yur State's Budget..and IF yur state goofs up..why do so many want to BLAME POTUS?? SMH

Media and Politicians love to blame the POTUS for everything including weather related loss of life and damages...

.unfortunately..most laws which inflict financial damages is caused by whatever STATE/Locality you reside...It's just easier to BLAME Libs or Republicans depending on which side you lean>>
