It's the nature of man op be corrupted by power. While I wish we had different leaders in Washington, chances are they would become corrupt over time as well. As long as most people have their cable TV, cell phones, and can take a vacation once in awhile- they are pretty satisfied, regardless of what the crooks in DC are doing.
We've been pushed around by our corrupt government serving their own interests and it seems to only be going downhill from here.
Is there a tipping point? Are the American people united enough to overthrow a government that becomes too oppressive (not suggesting that it's unbearable now, but could reach that point). Or, do they have our psychology in tight reins, able to steer us wherever they want?
You have the freedom to get up from your keyboard and strive to effect the changes you feel are necessary, although be aware most people dont feel the way you do and are not viewing the country with your level of pessimism.
The so-called stagnation has much to do with the browning of America.
The graph did not copy and paste too well but the third column represents what Hispanic men make compared to white men. What you see is the wage gap has jumped around but has stayed in the same narrow range since 1980. Hispanic females did have an uptick in that last number but otherwise the same thing is true for them.
White women have gained substantially. The conclusion from all these stats combined with increasing percentage of Hispanics in the workplace is that incomes have not stagnated for the white couple but gone up significantly, with black couples income going up slightly, thanks to the gains made by black women.
The apparent stagnation in income growth has much to do with the Hispanic population increasing as a percentage of the workforce while their wages have stagnated.
What would be interesting is to know the incomes of the first, second and third generation Hispanic Americans to get an idea of how much the income stagnation of the Hispanic demographic is simply due to influx of impoverished immigrants.
I care less what shade a person is. Wages are stagnating or falling for all but the Wall Street class and they don't even work.

You do know that 98 percent of police shootings are justified right
Justified by who? The cops who are doing the shooting?
However my post was not about the police, their actions or statistics but rather about how I respected those shooters for taking action and not just giving lip service. Yes the shootings were horrific but so are police shooting dogs and unarmed people.

There are more slaves today than back when slavery was legal. The only difference is slavery has been repackaged and sold to the people where they do not consider themselves as slaves. Ask yourself do you have the freedom to go around banking laws and regulations where you don't have to pay fees, or fines, or conform to credit rating systems even to get a job? What about paying your fare share of taxes including income and estate taxes; do you have the freedom to opt out? Do you really have any say in how your tax money is spent in DC?

Ha!
Is that like the guy who learned that all car accidents happen within a 5 mile radius of your house so he packed up and moved over ten miles away just to be safe.

No they are not. Any one with a little grasp of statistics can determine that. It is those ignorant in statistics and economics driving the protectionist movement.

The government is made up of people from the society in which they represent. If there is a problem with a government being corrupt, the problem came from the social construct of the society.
Who will people rise up against? Themselves?
If people want a moral and ethical government, they have to raise one. It's that simple.
People likely should have rose up after the republican crashed the economy and embroiled us in long lasting wars which destabilized the Middle East, and then made a pledge to try and gridlock congress with their vote to contest anything and everything put forth by the President and his administration.
The Republican party should have likely been disbanded after the debacle of 2007-2008 and certainly after it was proven that Bush Administration LIED in order to Invade Iraq, when really they were chasing "Oil". As a result 10's of Thousands of Americans are maimed due to the wars and million and 10's of million displaced and millions killed in and through the Middle East Region.
Hopefully, Trumps mess will finally bring the Republican System to Implode upon itself. Then America can move forward to be better at being the Nation it has design and capability to be and become.
