Foreign policy is not about relationships as the democrats and establishment republicans would have you believe.

If it were about relationships then why do we have so many cozy relationships with countries that do not support our basic values?

Simple, behind it all is business. It is transactional no matter how you cut it. Arms deals for other deals. Energy deals for other deals.

Behind every so-called relationship with another country is a dollar.

Then there is this so-called reliability issue where other countries need to know what we'll do. How has that worked out for the Cubans, the Hungarians, the Chechs, the Vietnamese and all the other countries that got something far different than what they were told they'd get?

Its all business. Government is business too, its just the business of government.

Yeah, this was all covered in John Pilgers book, "The new Rulers of The World". "client States", "structural adjustment ", IMF, WTO, GATT, TPP, NAFTA, and a pile of other alphabet soup acronyms, that essentially spell MUUNNNEEE.....

Foreign policy is about relationships if you are a weak nation. If you are the big dog, you don't need relationships.

Perhaps we should eliminate trade deals with countries that don't treat workers as good or better than the US? No workers rights - no trade. Discrimination based on religion/gender/sexual preference - no trade.
