Probably the worst mistake by anti gun politic. Since UK and Australia they have a real problem now and they are finding out the People of the UK outreach is going to bite them.

Well in a multicultural society it is a necessity. I remember seeing police/military with assault rifles on at least on occasion in London and another in Ireland when I lived there for a brief time.
They in practice always had guns available. They had armed units, guns and ammo in the trunk, who were always on patrol, they could respond within minutes if they were needed.
During things like diplomatic visits and VIP events, they had armed security.
It was just the routine patrol officers who were not armed, but those to can double as armed units, with the guns and ammo in the trunk.
I guess you could view their armed police sort of like how SWAT is here, on call and available when needed.

Yep and now they will permanently have armed police at strategic locations throughout.
If you watch the video in the link, the Muslim mayor himself says there is a bigger police gun presence due to terror.
