Oh geez, hold onto your paranoia panties. The article also stated that no bodies had been identified, and that DC (NOT DNC) staffers likely lived in the building. Could have been Republicans among the victims too.

Actually said DC Staffers and possibly " a long-time DNC staffer ".

Probably a natural gas leak. Supposedly residents had smelled gas days before the explosion. Maybe lax property management?
