Then they buy your politician, ********* over and rig the economy to ensure that you and your family will struggle as working stiffs. You have to choose, either massive income and wealth inequality or democracy. You cant have both. Research shows that your opinion and the opinions of most of the population has ZERO effect on public policy. The top 0.1% of income earners basically set public policy. They can simply ignore the will of the people as you dont have the money to be part of the donor class. Whats so great about that?
You act as if this is something new. You have some choices. Run for an office, get elected and try to make some changes. Or go to work like the rest of us "stiffs" , make decent choices, live within your means, vote smartly and worry about yourself, not the 1% or continue to whine about it. Only you can choose your path.

No you cant and this clip proves why we have this massive income and wealth inequality in America today:
Why all the hate against the "wealthy"? They pay high enough property taxes on their real estate holdings, they hire staff and companies to maintain their dwellings... they hold parties which puts revenue into the local economies when they hire catering companies, florists and other supplies. The wealthy also participate in many productive charities. They also support the arts. Many of our greatest art treasures in the museums exist because the wealthy cared enough to support the artists and buy and preserve their works. The wealthy are high-functioning citizens and we need them. The US is a fairly well-functioning capitalistic society, and imo we are not meant to be nor do we want to be a socialist society. Take away the incentives for making wealth and we become lazy unhappy mediocre human beings.
Meanwhile, look at what happens to low income people who win a big lottery prize or become a professional athlete... they squander their money away and self-destruct. I have no problems letting the wealthy remain wealthy and pass their wealth onto their children and grandchildren.
Canada has no separate inheritance tax. Instead the deceased is deemed to have sold all his assets just before death, and his estate (not the recipients) is taxed on the sale & capital gains using regular tax rules and rates - based on a final post-death tax return. This does not apply to assets inherited by a surviving spouse or common law partner.
Hence, doing some tax planning. Common law partner inherits tax-free but not the kids?
Spouses get freebies in the US, kids have to jump through hoops to get anything done.

You are pushing for third world crony capitalism though and a tiny economic royalty staying wealthy through generations while buying your politician. This is what we are discussing here, and why it is so important to level the playing field and create opportunities for working class folks, not just the children of the billionaire class. The rich kids should pay taxes on their inheritance just like working stiffs do on their income.
"double taxation" is a meaningless argument used by working stiffs to support the donor class. You are taxed double all the time. Who cares!? These rich kids should get a job like the rest of us instead of getting inheritance tax free. Its absurd. And you will pay for it. Prepare for massive increase in road tolls as you pay for the shortfall from the sons and daughters of the billionaire class not paying taxes.
Just because double taxation happens in other ways doesn't mean they are all ok or justified.
Just how much of the money anyone earns should they be able to keep in your eyes?
At what point does laying one tax on top of another surpass what is necessary and justifiable to preform the enumerated functions of government and become a slush fund for for the political class?
If you have anything constructive to add, I'll be happy to discuss.
That would require a constructive topic to begin with. Your endless whinging over class envy doesn't count. Sorry.
