21's too old cause an 18 YO dude or lady can join the Armed Forces without permission from parents. Old enough to get killed fighting the US; old enough to drink. Period.

No age limit. Govt is in no position to legislate morals, habits, vices, etc.

If you want to have a valid poll, you write it in a neutral way. OP, you didn't.

But to answer the question, in my view, if you're "an adult", you should be able to drink. Therefore, to me, 18 should be the limit.

I have relatives in Ireland and they have been able to drink since they were 18.

It does seem silly that a kid can sign him or herself up for the military putting their very lives at risk yet they cannot legally buy a beer.

On the other hand I don't think most American kids could handle it. We have so many movies and songs that celebrate getting wasted yet they seldom show the horrible aftermath of it. Every year we hear about college kids who away from the protection of their parents for the first time make terrible decisions and drink themselves to death.

Keep it at 21.

Nailed it.

There's a lot of evidence that human brains aren't totally grown up until after the age of 20.

If a person can't make a reasoned decision to have a drink at 18, how the hell can that person make a reasoned decision to join the military?

And conversely, how the hell can you ask a person who has been in battle to wait another year or so to have a beer?

I don't much care whether the age is 18 or 21 or some other age. I care very much that the ages be congruent. Anything else is insulting.

18 year olds should be able to buy their own alcohol. As long as there is parent/guardian supervision (or perhaps even non-parent guardian who was granted permission by a parent or guardian) and parents are held accountable for any harm done under their watch, these should also be no laws restricting the use of alcohol for minors.

18 is about right --having sense is a parents responsibility to teach, But the kids are all drinking, they are not age conscious / fake ID's Older friends - clubs let them in.. Waste of time. But I rather they did weed -not alcohol

Nobody has the right to complain about alcohol laws unless you live in Oklahoma (or Utah). Around here grocery stores are only allowed to sell beer that is 3.2% ABV. Liquor stores can sell stronger beer but must sell it room temperature. Liquor stores are also the only outlets you can buy wine or spirits. They also must close at 9PM, Sundays, and most holidays. All this to appease Baptist moralists who don't drink anyways.
