Way too early, in fact I would be surprised if you were going to use "slave" correctly. Some of y'all just throw that term around without understanding it.
What are you being enslaved by? You have to pay taxes? You can't smoke in a public building? Town says you have to mow your lawn after not doing so for three months?
People like that remind me of the kid who didn't want to do their share of the chores or keep their room in decent shape, or brush their teeth. Living together in any society is a bit of a challenge...a tiny bit.
Because you live in a society and you need to obey its laws. If you don't like it, you can immigrate or work in a democratic way to change the law.
It's easier to pout or to lie down on the floor, throw a tantrum, kick and scream that simply follow the law and be involved in responsible local political action.
Yes. Family and society spent a lot of resources on you. Unless you were left for the wolves, in which case I congratulate you on overcoming adversity.

Have at it.
So how does a family taking care of me translate to a State taking care of me?

It's also easier to bully your way thru life using the State's monopoly to steal/oppress your neighbor instead of engaging in cooperative non-violent measures to coexist.
