What about her statement reflects "racial victimhood". It would seem that she agrees with you and doesn't want to be identified as the black swimmer who won gold, she would rather just be the swimmer that won gold.
That's what I got from it also. Why is it that there are always topics about blacks being created on this forum?

It shows their blind bigotry. An article that says the thing that they say Black people should be saying and they twist it to fit their viewpoint on Blacks. This is why they see Black boogeymen everywhere they look. Black presidents, Black organizations, Black causes, etc all exist to make their fears real, regardless if that's the actual agenda.

maybe if self hating whites didn't write so many articles on faux racism, or Islamic judo athletes who have done absolutely nothing - but should be given the privilege of carrying in the US flag at the opening just for being a "brave Muslim", then maybe some of us wouldn't point and laugh so much
I read the article. The tItle does not mention anything about the Olympics and racism. The section about the CDC stated a statistic. The rest of the portion you quoted states one of the reasons that statistic exists - access to pools.
The article is honestly celebrating what people in this country pretend they believe in. When people are given equal access to opportunity they can be successful. But somehow mentioning facts - the swimmer is black, historically black people didn't have the same access to pools, the young lady hopes to be an inspiration to her community - is accusing people of being racist??
oh please!!
Just like with any other sport, the best in class get to represent the US. It has nothing to do with skin color. The author and 'social justice warrior' (AKA self hating white) can't seem to see past her skin color and taking shots with his perceived racism in swimming.
HE is the one who made this a race issue. She didn't, her team-mates sure didn't. Just another worthless blogger claiming to be a journalist.
