You paid market value for a good. No different than you paying for groceries. Your landlord got a home paid for because he took a risk, and it paid off.

So? He said "can" not "will". Hard work isn't a guarantee of becoming rich, but it makes it a hell of a lot more likely than being a lazy parasite whining that someone else isn't giving you everything.
