China builds first overseas military outpost | Fox News
Quote:
It was February this year when camel drivers first spotted the Chinese troops staking out a patch of coastal scrubland about 8 miles from the largest U.S. military base in Africa.

Chinese navy ships had visited this tiny East African nation before. They sometimes picked up supplies in the old French port, farther down the arid coast, during antipiracy patrols off Somalia.

This time, the Chinese military was here to stay. The camel herders watched as the troops secured a plot next to a construction site where a vast new bulk and container port is taking shape.

The 90-acre plot is where Beijing is building its first overseas military outpost—a historic step that marks a bold new phase in its evolution as a world power.
Looks like the "Great Game" is back on, this time it's the Chinese and the Russians as the imperialist powers. The West better up it's game or we're done for. We need to bring back some form of colonial empires but with a greater level of self government and more focus on self reliance.

Trump will have us out of every foreign country and hiding on our part of the globe if he's elected.

Not that I believe trump is going to, but bringing our troops home and minding our own business would be bad how?

As for the topic, nothing China does in Africa requires any action on our part.

Hopefully they can clear the mess in Africa. The pirates should have been eliminated long time ago.

We have intertwined our business with the world.

I don't think it is as simple as pulling back and becoming isolationist.

Camp Lemonier was established in 2002 as the first " official" US base in Africa. More than 4000 are stationed there.

Let's not confuse this with the dozens of US military camps, installation, facilities, drone and surveilience posts that have existed throughout Africa for decades. Some date back to 1946.

Guess some believe only US Imperialism matters.

Let's get worked up because a US kid had the unfortunate circumstance of being born to a man and woman who are unable / unwilling to take financial responsibility for him while not blinking at the cost of the global footprint of the US military.

A few dozen more, including surrounding the US, and they will be caught up with the US!

Maybe they can place some troops illegally in other countries aiding rebels, then cry and complain when gov forces almost kill them, hoping for a kill as justification to take whatever action they want to take.

Our influence is driven by our military. Business follows influence.
