"While we have enjoyed a winning relationship with Ryan for over a decade and he has been an important member of the Speedo team, we cannot condone behavior that is counter to the values this brand has long stood for. We appreciate his many achievements and hope he moves forward and learns from this experience," the company added.
I believe private company has every single right to make decision regarding their company image or products,
however, that "moves forward and learns from this experience" line is rather lame. I am sure Lochts has learned from this experience, everybody and their dogs are condemning him for something silly he has done.

Too soon! Meaning, if the company thought it needed to do what it needed to do, then let this Olympic event fade into history and from the potential customer's collective minds before the ax falls. Pre-Spring is always a good time to start anew.

If you are going to be a company spokesperson you better check the contract for a morals/conduct clause. If you choose to go out and make a fool of yourself in a high profile way then you may find that contract null and void.

All he had to do was fess up once he sobered up. Why he doubled downed on his fabrication is a mystery to me.
As a 32 year old veteran, he didn't act as such. But, the entire story is still unclear. I think he was in a position to be nervous, as even though they did something stupid at the gas station, what transpired was not normal under any circumstances. Security with a gun, demanding payment on the spot to leave, language barrier - I'd be scared too. Although he may be at fault for initial actions, I'm not so sure he should take full blame for the incident. This wasn't Tiger Woods committing adultery.
Yes, they made the correct decision...you can't have an idiot representing you.
